Historic photo of Services at JNH

The earliest known photo of services at NJH

We use the Silverman Machzor — the “Traditional Edition.” Our services themselves might best be described as modern-traditional. Traditional in the sense that our services are complete, starting from the morning prayers of Shacharit all the way through Adon Olam; modern insofar as women participate in our services to the same extent that men do.

See our schedule for dates and times of services. We will read the full Torah portion and chant the Haftarah. We’ll have plenty of English language readings interspersed with the traditional Hebrew prayers. We don’t blow the shofar on Yom Kippur until it’s really time to do so (but once we do, you’ll be pleased to join us for some fruit juice and tidbits to break the fast).
